The Fourth Annual Waimea Town Market Giant Pumpkin Contest
The Fourth Annual Waimea Town Market Giant Pumpkin Contest! Please stop by the Market on October 6 to check out the results from growers around the island.
This year the Market worked with several enthusiastic Big Island groups in the hope of making this event even more popular, getting more kids involved, and maybe even growing some really big pumpkins into the bargain. The National Junior Master Gardner program, 4-H, the Kohala Center and the Kohala Pumpkin Patch are all involved as partners.
We also have two great sponsors – Crop Production Services and BEI Hawaii. We will have more prizes thanks to their generosity.
Join us for the weigh-in as we bring the fun of giant pumpkins to our island’s children – of all ages!
Also on tap in October (the 26th) is our annual Halloween Hounds Costume Parade. This not-to-be missed event pits lavishly attired canines of all descriptions against one another for the grand prize ribbon, plus bragging rights for the dog’s owner! Market vendors decorate their booths, some rather elaborately, for this event which marks the beginning of the holiday season.
Come on over to Parker School, enjoy a great breakfast from one of our chefs and get a ring-side seat for the fun and festivities!
See you there!
